Erectile dysfunction medicines took in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large quantities of unlicensed medications have been taken by Department of Health officials throughout a search of a home in Glengormley.

A guy was interviewed by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medicines via the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offenses.

He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was carried out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, stated: "It is vital that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be unsafe.

"These kinds of products being offered, typically online, have no quality control and there can be no assurance about their security.

"You merely do not know what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More significantly, you do not understand the effect drugs like this may have on your health."
